Since 1989, members of the Concierge lodge at the Intercontinental Hotel initiated the first contacts with UICH.

Dan Gheorghiu was the one who, starting that year, founded and initiated the Romanian branch. He traveled and participated in all the meetings and congresses of the UICH, making our country's presence known in the International Concierge space.

Subsequently, the new generation that has followed these pioneers, have rallied as the Clefs d'Or Romania, gaining legal status in December 2010.

2009 September - we hosted the Eastern European Zone Meeting in Bucharest where we had colleagues participating from Hungary, Czech Republic, Russia, Austria and Germany. On behalf of UICH International we were honored with the presence of Emanuel Vretos ( Greece ) - First Vice President and Michael Romei (USA) - General Secretary of UICH.

In Service Through Friendship!
This is the motto of Les Clefs d'Or. By nurturing friendships with fellow concierges and through the networking this brings, we are able to offer our own guests better service, either directly or indirectly, through the sharing of ideas and knowledge, which ultimately promotes a higher level of professional development. The Society of the Golden Keys involves itself in several activities to promote service through friendship. We conduct regular branch meetings (usually monthly) and promote concierge dinners .
Annually there is a General Meeting, which brings together all the Romanian members to discuss issues of importance, conduct workshops, plan activities, and reinforce existing friendships, not to mention welcoming new members. On a larger scale there is an International Congress held each year in which Les Clefs d'Or concierges from all over the world gather together for a week to attend meetings, seminars and to promote the aims of the Society. Our main goal is to increase the awareness of the Concierge concept not only among the branded five stars hotels but as well in all the Romanian Hospitality industry.
We want to spread our word among the Hotelier Academies, schools and professional networks.
